Careers FAQ’s

We aim to hire caregivers as quickly as possible. It is not unusual to come to our offices on Monday or Tuesday to apply for a position and be invited to orientation that same week. We have paid two-day orientations every Wednesday and Thursday. Many of our caregivers are scheduled to work their first client shift on Friday after the completion of orientation. Applicants who come to their interview with all the required documents (valid drivers’ license, current vehicle registration and current vehicle insurance) frequently leave the interview with an offer letter that includes the date of their scheduled orientation.

Yes, we have a registered nurse on staff that can perform the supervisory visits required by the NM Department of Health.

Home Care Assistance focuses on providing one-on-care care for our clients, which is a very different approach than facilities where caregivers care for 15-20 clients at a time. During these times of Covid-19, this is a tremendous benefit and goes a long way in ensuring that you and your family and our clients can remain safe. If you desire a full-time schedule, we can typically accommodate that, and we offer a wide variety of benefits and bonus opportunities.

Home Care Assistance will provide masks, gloves, and forehead thermometers to each of our caregivers. Caregivers can get these items replenished weekly by stopping by our offices.

Yes – at Home Care Assistance our caregivers are able to work up to five 12 hour shifts each week or 5 live-in shifts each week if they desire to do so. By working full time with us you can earn a bonus every pay period!

Yes – we pride ourselves in having the top caregivers on our team and providing continuing education is key to our success. During your orientation you will complete 10 hours of training and throughout your first year with Home Care Assistance you will also complete an additional 30 hours of training. While we do have in-person training sessions (currently on hold), much of your training is completed online. As soon as the State’s public health order is lifted, we will resume in-office trainings, which include Fall Prevention and CPR.

The cost of training is covered by Home Care Assistance and you are paid for the training you complete.

Yes – We have clients with shifts that vary in length from 4 hours to 12 hours and our clients are located throughout the greater Albuquerque area, including Rio Rancho and the East Mountains. We strive to schedule you for work on the days/times that you prefer and place you with clients that you are compatible with and have the right skill set to be successful.

If you are a nursing student, we also have a tuition reimbursement program.
